Concept

real value function $f$ is unimodal on $[a,b]$ if there is unique $x^{\ast }$ such that $f(x^{\ast })$ is minimum of $f$ on $[a,b]$ and $f$ is strictly decreasing for $x\le x^{\ast }$ and strictly increasing for $x\ge x^{\ast }$.
